Snowdon
Simply stunning.
My brother and I attempted to walk Snowdon in January!
We set off early, the weather hit and miss -- snow covered mountains. We walked fast and navigated new terrain while catching up and talking about old times.
-200m snow became more frequent. (I would say slightly risky footing) -100m we heard a Helicopter; we couldn't see it for fog.
Soon enough we encountered fellow walkers who reported a fall by other hikers on the way back from the summit. We were assured more experienced hikers were looking after him.
At this point we hit nothing but snow. No trail to follow. No crampons. Gloves soaked. Freezing. Understanding heuristic traps is essential when faced with choices like these. It's easy to push to hard but taking a step back and evalutating your next move is essential.
Ultimately we took the right decision and turned around. Safely in a pub (with a beer) we celebrated an epic walk -- summit or not.
So close. -100m. Next time Snowdon.
